Precautionary measures.

Would it be a good idea to download the Malwarebytes, Stinger and Superantispyware programs and keep them on my computer in case any of them are needed as a precautionary measure? I understand they will need to be updated regularly.

Also, can I run them "just to be sure", even if I am not experiencing any kind of problems. They will not conflict with my McAfee Security Center, right?

The 1st and the 3rd ones definately - only the free versions though, but Stinger comes in 3 varieties. make sure it's the regular one you have, see 'Stinger' here: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/index.aspx.

Which is the "regular" Stinger? There is "Fake Alert", "Aurora" and one called "Stinger"?

I downloaded the Superantispyware free edition. Is it safe to run real time scanning along side McAfee or not?

The plain Stinger one.  As I said Stinger is more of a specialized tool and I would only download it if I needed it.

Alrighty then. Thanx for the info. Got the two and will wait on the stinger. Ran the Superantispyware and found mostly tracking cookies. Good to know I have a clean computer. I really try being careful what I click on, etc. Had viruses and trojans in the past on an older desktop, but I wasn't really careful about where I went and it was before Site Advisor. That thing is awesome!

Again...thanx for the info. If you have any other advice or programs that could help me keep my computer tip top, I would be ever so greatful.

So one or the other is all that's needed? They both do basically the same thing? I don't want to do any overkill here.

I would keep both as you have them.  What one might miss the other may catch.   I wasn tired last night when I posted, I forgot I do already have Windows Defender and SpywareBlaster with paid auto-updates.

The first comes with Vista and Windows 7 but it usually turned off when you install an antivirus, so has to be turned back on again.
