Hi I am not sure how it endeds up getting installed on my laptop (suspect my son may be to blame) buyt have had real issues with a browser extension in chrome/edge called customsearchbar. Its basically malware and I was a little disappointed McAfee scans did not pick up on it or protect against it getting installed. I had to remove manually by updating registry, amending app shortcuts which had these flags added...
--google-base-url=https://customsearchbar.me --extensions-on-chrome-urls --disable-features=OutdatedBuildDetector --load-extension=C:\Windows\InternalKernelGrid
And I moved this folder (as was unsure if it was safe to delete C:\Windows\InternalKernelGrid)
Question is, should mcafee product have picked this up in scan or is it not technically a virus? If it is the latter feel there is gap in protection provided by the product here.
