McAfee Security: Antivirus App for Android / Need to log in again after restart without internet!?!!

I have installed the McAfee Security App for Android (version 6.131.40) on a tablet (from the Google Play Store).

Installation and activation went smoothly, BUT:

Strangely, if the tablet was not connected to the internet for a longer period of time (approx. 12 h) and rebooted without internet, the app does not start automatically.

(1) If the app is started manually WITHOUT internet connection, I get the message "no internet connection - try again" (and the app is not started).

(2) If the app is started manually WITH internet connection, one has to log in again either with email & password or register via activation code - otherwise the app is not started.

It is not acceptable that a purchased and already registered virus software simply "switches off" automatically and has to be restarted manually, if there is/was no internet connection after a restart...?

I have already contacted McAfee support via chat without success - answer to the above: "that's the way it is" (?!?!).

I have not yet seen any security software or anti-virus software that simply fails to do its job when restarted without an Internet connection and, above all, no longer starts automatically.


The answer of the support is unacceptable in my eyes.

My last hope is the community - maybe I'm doing something wrong here?

Hi @KM1,

Greetings from McAfee.

Kindly send the log files so that we will check on the issue. Follow the steps to collect logs from your device. 

From the McAfee app select settings icon->troubleshoot then toggle the switch to sendlogs and then select send logs

I already tried to send the report, but it doesn't work -> if you press the report button
a) the report is sent to a wrong e-mail adress (undeliverable mail) OR

b) the button doesn´t work...

It seems that I'm not the only one: look at the ratings in the Google play store!

It's full of complaints with the same topic....
