McAfee AntiVirus Plus:Your Computer is at Risk what is going on here?

Jump to solution

I need some help quickly

I just got a message that my subscription is expired ~ Impossible since I purchased and personally installed via disk: McAfee Anti Virus Plus 2012  this year in january or february before the previous disk expired. It has been working until right now.

I don't remember cancelling any of the old programs when installing the next program. Could this be the problem?  How do you cancell old programs

Right now I am blocked from seeing any of my information!  (except renew now)

My last dat was 6749 this morning.

I ran MVT and it shows:  Virus Scan  McAfee AntiVirus Plus 15.0.302  problem product expired   and Personal Firewall  McAfee Anti Virus Plus 12.0.355  problem product expired.

I think you are right, remants of the old software are still there.

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program (Add or Remove Programs if this is XP)

Uninstall everything 'McAfee'

Run the MCPR cleanup tool, listed under Useful Links at the top this page and reboot.

Reinstall and that should take care of it.

If you already registered it online then online.  If not then your disk.

Peter is there a link for the reinstallation?  I see the removal tool list, but not anything about reinstalling afterwards.

I'm feeling so stupid right now.   I remember entering a product key when I first installed the program  I have that key

The removal tool  didn't solve the problem of 2 expired subscriptions prior to this one that are still showing in my profile /account.  They each have a renew button and no way to make them disappear. They probably should have been removed somehow each time before installing the next subscription/program.

Do I have to contact tech support to get help in making them disappear?
