How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware

Today I restarted my laptop and during Windows boot up I got this alert:

have uploaded the file to VirusTotal and this is the report:

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/9e080ee54c61daad782bd7aae583b202

So I think it's a false positive.

I'd like to have the option to chose between Quarantine the file or Ignore the alert. Is it possible to configure McAfee to give me these options and stopping McAfee from quarantining/deleting the file automatically?

I'm afraid it could happen with some important system file someday so I'd like to have the chance to decide.

Thanks.

RE: How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware

I uninstalled Picasa so I´m not able to submit the file 😞
but I already sent the file to McAfee from the Quarantine zone. This is the information I got from AVERT Labs:

AVERT Labs - Beaverton
Current Scan Engine Version:5300.2777
Current DAT Version:5576.0000
Thank you for your submission.

Analysis ID: 5242360

File Name Findings Detection Type Extra
--------------------|------------------------------|----------------------------|------------|-----
uninstall.exe |current detection |generic.dx |Trojan |no

current detection [uninstall.exe]

The file received is infected and can be detected and removed with our current DAT
files and engine. It is recommended that you update your DAT and engine files and scan
your computer again.

Hope that helps and that false positive is fixed soon.

I was reffering to the analysis ID

the DAT number seen on your post is 5576 and 5577 is already out you are likely to have that now or within a few hours.. so please re-install picasa and verify if possible happy

RE: How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware

Nooo! I don't want Picasa2 or 3 or 4 😄

it came pre-installed in my laptop and today I finally did a software clean up and removed Picasa, Vongo, Toshiba Music, Games, etc. 😉

BTW, it's 21:16 here and the new DAT file (5577) hasn't arrived yet...

RE: How to stop McAfee from automatically removing malware

09 a.m. here and the updater tells me that my "programs are up to date"

Regarding UNINSTALL.exe from Picasa2: yes, the software came pre-installed with my Toshiba Qosmio laptop that I bought more than a year ago.

I took the UNINSTALL file from Quarantine and uploaded to:

maybe you want to review it.
