How do I add any file as trusted. Its the last time i purchased mcafee.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I assume you are referring to the antivirus detecting and quarantining something so moved this to that section for better support. Any antivirus will occasionally detect something incorrectly. Was the detection given a name? If you don't remember it will be identified in SecurityCenter > Navigation > Quarantined and Trusted Items.
Only items that are detected as "PUPs" or Potentially Unwanted Programs can be marked as trusted. If something you know to be OK is being detected follow the steps in this LINK to submit it for clearance,

In Addition
If it is a false detection submit the file as per Peter's link above but when you get an auto reply saying it is infected reply with the subject of the email saying False +ve detected in name of file as detection name. In body say why you feel it is not a correct detection. Allow 5 days for fix and if not fortcoming post back and I or Peter will ping a lab tech to fix it.
There's a bold red warning in that link regarding that. Yes we will ping someone if that doesn't help.
Thank You very much for your reply..
But why cant I just bypass that file from real time scanning or add as trusted.
I've to follow that procedure everytime for any false detection.
As Peter mentioned if you are using Mcafee consumer products the only time you are given the option to trust a file is when it is detected as a PUP (Potentially unwanted programs). The enterprise version might be different.
You can bypass file scanning in Custom and scheduled scans but not in real time scans.
Thank you Peacekeeper and Peter for your support.
OK, good luck.
