Full Scan and Quick Scan does not complete (10/2023)

Hello,
 

Since August 2023, after an update, my McAfee no longer reaches 100% in any scan I try. It often gets stuck at 2 or 3% then stops. This happens both with quick and full scan. I initially thought maybe visually the program was stuck but it ran the scan behind the scenes, so I let it sit overnight once and it was still stuck at 2 or 3%. 

It worked totally fine before the update. One thing I noticed too, when I right click on the tray icon, the gray popup menu to choose "check for updates", "Open McAfee", "scan" looks very dated, like windows 95 popup menu when you right click. It never looked like that before, only after the update and when the scans started freezing, did I notice this minor change, but they seem to go hand in hand.

Last Update: 10/14/2013

I am currently using Windows 10 Home as well if that helps.

Quick scan ran fine.

Full scan ok till 99% and seems stuck there. Cannot wait as going out so will recheck later.

Rebooted reran full scan jammed at 99% for 3 hrs and will not cancel. Clicking cancel says It is not done yet the saying cancel cycles back to Cancel scan option.

There is a bug is scan several users with 1% and other jam ups.

Agree - this issue has been with us for at least a month. Time for a fix.

I'm having a similar problem where the Full Scan stops at 1%. This was raised over 1 month ago and still no solution which is a shocking service.

This was the comment on a previous thread which has now been closed without a solution:

 

Greetings from McAfee.

McAfee is aware of this issue ( on Release:  16.0 R111 ) and we are working towards a solution. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.

I also had a problem with Full Scan stopping at 1% on Release 16.0 R111. I updated this morning to Release 16.0 R112 and the scan now passes the 1% block. The scan is currently showing 4% and still running, so looks like this may be fixed.

I ran LiveSafe with this release over the weekend. Previously it would hang just past halfway. This time it completed, but it hit 100% halfway through and kept running for several more hours.

I have two hard drives. I wish I could exclude the second since it's just old storage that I don't put any new files on, and not scanning it would cut the scan time in half.

Anyway, I'm wondering if the percentage was calculated based only on 1 drive, but it still scanned both.
