Full Scan Problems

Hi I have virus scan plus 2009 and when I do a full scan it stops on a file called C:$RECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-2...18173-1001\$R 5 DEC6T.rar. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Thanks

can u also check: C:\Recycler.
Is there anything in there?

also, Run a system search for the infected files.
Does it find them?

RE: Full Scan Problem

I have the identical problem, but with a different file. How do you do a system search for an infeected file? I have XP Home. Thank you!

RE: Full Scan Problem

You could try the following, and see if this does the trick:
- RIGHT-click the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop
- click Properties
- set the size to 0%
- click Apply
- click OK
- reboot the PC
- set the size back to the normal 10%

The idea being that if you set the size to 0% it will not have room to store any files and therefor clear out anything that may be stored there.

Full Scan Problem

Thank you for the reply. However, my problem with the full scan does not involve a recycle bin file, but the I386 dlimport.exe file, where the full scan hangs up. If this file is corrupted, I was interested in the suggestion to run a system search. I do not know how to do this and would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

RE: Full Scan Problem

hi riggs10,

I advise to run a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to clean out the hard drive. afterwards, run the McAfee scan.

hope it helps...
