Frozen/taking a long time to delete viruses or trojans.

Jump to solution

I have 2 viruses or trojans I'm trying to delete and having some difficulty. It has been stuck on this for hours (click on image to make bigger if necessary):

I selected "delete all" and it seems to get stuck. I've closed the screen and tried to do it again to no avail and I've also tried to delete them individually without success. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Try rebooting into Safe Mode and running the software there.   They will either already be gone or at least be easier to get rid of.

Moved to VirusScan for attention

I've just done this and the virus doesn't show up in safe mode. I'm guessing this just means that the virus isn't on any files which load up using safe mode and when I go back to normal mode they'll still be there. So where do I go from here?

Sptool is conduit search as is the other one.

You should be able to remove them via

Try Malwarebytes and if necessary adwcleaner

Though read Mcafee's pledge

McAfee's virus removal pledge

Call them and make sure your renewal is set to auto (you can change it later) and ask them to remove it. I am interested in how they do it as usually a reboot or safe mode works.

Thanks for the help. Safe mode seems to have worked, I'm just running a full scan now to make sure.

I and Peter did expect it to just need to have program unload. If there are any issues post back or try the other suggestions

Have a good day

Hi again viivi,

You must be aware that McAfee Scan does not work under Safe Mode.

FYI the software will run in Safe Mode w/Networking.
