Failure to install

Yesterday the subscription for my mcafee virus protection ran out for one of my computers so today I got it renewed and tried to reinstall but I get an error, after I run the file it says gathering information for a few seconds then goes blank and just makes a clicking noise. I've tried uninstalling the previous version and restarting the computer but that didn't help either.

Hi,

Could you please try this

Please try running http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe  , restart the computer.

Reset the internet explorer by clciking on Tools>Internet Options> Advanced> Reset Internet explorer setting(If its IE 7 or 8), for IE 6 Tools>Internet Options>programs>Reset websettings(To find the version of IE click on the Help and About Internet Explorer) then restart the computer keep tapping F8 key select safemode with networking and try downloading McAfee(Please avoid safemode with networking if its a wireless connection).once you get into the safemode with networking run http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe and then try downloading McAfee

Note: Please try downloading using Internet Explorer.

Hi,

Can you provide the following information;

What is the browser you use ? IE or Firefox and the version

How old is the computer ?

Do you have any other security software installed in the computer ?

I use firefox version 3.5

The computer is nearly 3 years old.

No other security software.

Check and delete if you have any other security software in C:/program files and common files.
Run the Mcpreinstall tool from
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe
and the start installing the programs.
Kindly report back with the exact error f you face any

Now when I try to install it I click run and nothing happens at all.

I don't know what to do now that the installer itself won't even run.

I got it to load again but I just get the original error again. The blank mcafee screen and a clicking noise.

Can someone please help me?
