External Drive not recognized when plugged in

I just bought Antivirus plus 2013, it has the same problem.

It cannot detect my 500G sony external hard disk.

Please, any update on this?

We will ask in our Monday PM phone call and report back. Mine just opens the contents in explorer does not ask. This in windows 8. On My win 7 PC it misses the scan option also so wait till we discuss this tomorrow

I suppose you did not click on remember my choice anytime?

McAfee's Technical Support told me that it was an intended update.  They are only going to scan USB devices that they consider removable media.  An External Hard Disk is no longer part of the scan upon plugging in.  You have to scan it manually.

Interesting. I do see the point a 2gb external drive would take a while. I still would have preferred the option as it jogs the user's thoughts as to whether a scan necessary..

It is on the popup that shows when an USB stick is inserted. The tech we talk to is rechecking re this. He is also checking with his external drive as well.
