Does VirusScan scan IMAP email?

http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/showthread.php?t=225169

was the original thread, which seems to have tailed off. With the ever-increasing popularity of IMAP, does anyone know whether MAV scans IMAP email?

From some general Googling, it appears that there is a serious deficiency amongst many AV manufacturers to support IMAP mail scanning - given that they rely upon the execution-based scan - ie. mail is not scanned as it arrives, but it is upon execution.

I ask only because there must be some people using McAfee and Gmail IMAP out there...?

Cheers,
Gopha.
