Disableing Virus Scan

I plan on downloading and installing Internet Explorer Version 8 on my Windows XP Home edition SP3 machine. I am using McAfee VirusScan 13.3, Security Center 9.3, and Firewall 10.3. MS recommends disabling Virus programs while this IE update is going on to prevent any corruption in the installation. How can I temporarily disable McAfee While I do the update to Internet Explorer? Shjould I disable the Firewall as well as the VirusScan portion? If so, how is that done as well? Will my level of McAfee run OK with IE8? Thanks for your assistance. Charles Ranheim

RE: Disableing Virus Scan

It runs fine with IE8.

To temporarily turn off VirusScan do the following:

Double-click the taskbar icon to open Security Center
Click Advanced Menu (bottom left)
Click Configure (left)
Click Computer & Files (top left)
You can disable VirusScan in the right-hand module and tell it for how long.
