Hi - I'm having problems with McAfee Antivirus, the latest update on 12/10 or 11. It has caused my PC (specs below) to be unresponsive to the mouse and anything clicked on desctop icons, some icons not to completely appear in the desktop (no logos), not start up programs which normally appear in the Notification Area (next to the clock), and take forever to shut down. I had to uninstall McAfee completely in Safe mode, which resolved the problems.
My PC is:
Gateway Desk top Tower, 2004 vintage
Win XP Pro v2002 , SP3, all updates applied to 12/13
4GB memory
Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 2.8 ghz
Logitech Trackman trackball mouse
This could be due to any 3rd party application conflict. Do you have any other malware/spyware application installed?
Please try to re-install the McAfee product from your McAfee account.
Hi Manoj - I'm running SpySweeper v610.157, although it was not launched at the time. One of it's starter services was running. Also, I use ZoneAlarm v93.037 as the firewall, but with the anti-virus turned off to not conflict with McAfee.

This normally happens if there are multiple security software installed on the hard drive . Please run the concerned removal tool for those security software and uninstall the program.
