Re: TrueKey uninstall creates registry error (Windows 10)

The error stems from an early version of TrueKey installed on a Windows 10 pc. I had to log n to TrueKey during Windows login. It locked up my pc and I deinstalled it immediately but have had the reoccurring problem ever since 😞 The pc gets unresponsive and the system has to be forced to shut down. Unable to use ALT + CRTL + Del or anything else. Any assistence would be much appreciated.

Re: TrueKey uninstall creates registry error (Windows 10)

Understood, would you remember by any chance the older version of True Key you were running on this system?

Thanks,

Marc D.

Re: TrueKey uninstall creates registry error (Windows 10)

Just to make sure how it happened, you were trying to uninstall this old version of the True Key desktop app and was during the uninstallation that you received the registry error message and after that is when PC started to lock up and being unresponsive?

Are you able to log in to your Windows system? After rebooting you still see the same unresponsiveness?

Thanks,

Marc D.

Re: TrueKey uninstall creates registry error (Windows 10)

I don't remember the exact version of True Key. The system completely froze up and I uninstalled it right away.

It is more that than a year ago I uninstalled True Key but I get the described DLL-error once or twize a day.

When I do a hard reboot Windows works okay. But a few times every day the system hangs and is none responsive and I have to make a hard reboot. I always get the same error reffering to the TrueKey DLL. I am unable to identify the System event that makes the call to the DLL.

Re: TrueKey uninstall creates registry error (Windows 10)

I have this same problem, and it's rendered my computer unusable.

TrueKey was installed once, briefly, a long time ago, and I have no idea what version.

The registry key is Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

The line within that is:

Notification Packages     REG_DWORD scecli "C:\Program Files\TrueKey\McAfee TrueKeyPasswordFilter"

Our question is very simple: can we safely delete this key, which is making our computers unusable?

Please be responsible for this flaw in your software, which remained after uninstalling TrueKey and also after running MCPR.exe
