Hello
In the Vulnerability Scanner of Total Protection I had
Scheduled Scan Settings set to "Don't Set A Scan Schedule", and in
Custom Scan Settings I have ticked "Don't Check For Windows Updates"
But I saw today that the Vulnerability Scanner ran by itself and it informed me that there were 29 updates available. 27 of them were Windows updates.
Why is Vulnerability Scanner running when I have set "Don't Set A Scan Schedule"?
I don't want this to run ever. How do I stop it from running?
Thanks
Windows 7 user

Hello
Which component do you require information on?
To speed this up he ,I assume, wants what you see in my Info / about
ie McAfee Livesafe Version and release as well as McAfee security Center Components info (affid Build etc)
I have no windows products selected but use a weekly scan of products set to my choice. No windows updates have ever been listed since I dropped them.
There was another asking re this in 2019 but no solution given.
Its a shame I can't cut and paste that info.

@Former Member
Any thoughts
I have this problem, too. And I am on Windows 7 as well. Don't need McAfee checking for Windows Updates, don't need Vulnerability Scanner running, but it seems to do both anyway.
Hello @dajiang ,
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused,
Please try following steps and keep us posted with the outcome,
1. Under vulnerability scan->go to schedule scans-> you will an option that shows " Automatically install all updates after every scan" -> you will find options to choose between "windows update/program updates/both", please select "program updates" only->click on Apply .Check if the vulnerability scanner still scans for windows updates.
2. If the issue still persist please Uninstall McAfee from the PC
3. Restart the PC -> Re-install McAfee and check if the issue still persist

Hello
I don't want to do any updates.
I have selected "Don't set a schedule scan"
Why is Vulnerability Scanner running?
Also, as per previous post, also on this laptop WmiPrvSE.exe is using 20% of cpu. If I stop the service McAfee WebAdvisor cpu usage goes back to normal. My friend has the same problem on his laptop. Uninstalling WebAdvisor seems to work but then reinstalling appears to complete but the installation is not complete, and WebAdvisor will not run. Missing files.
On my other laptop, I have the problem of Quick Clean running even with no schedule selected, and sometimes when I go into the Quick Clean interface the page is blank, sometimes not.
McAfee has become such a problem on both my laptops. I am seriously considering my options. This is a shame since I have been a faithful McAfee user for many many years.
