Hi,
I am trying to install Mcafee anti virus on my laptop. it has windows 11 Home in S mode.
every time I run the exe file it prompts a window advising it cannot install on windows 10 in S mode.
any ideas how to fix this.
the same applies when I try to run the pre install tool.
hello,
as far as i know on a Windows 10/11 in S Mode, you can only download and use Apps form the Microsoft Store, you cannot install 3rd party software . .
however it should be possible to upgrade from Windows S mode to the normal Windows Home version.
after that you can use 3rd party software and also Mcafee
it is important that if you exit Windows S mode to the normal Windows Home version it is not possible to go back to Windows S mode.
Windows S mode comes with build in Windows Defender antivirus.
it is thought that using Windows S mode and only can use apps from Windows own app store you have a safe computer.
i found the following info in the Microsoft community and maybe this can be of help for you aswell;
Installing Mcafee on a Windows 10 S laptop - Microsoft Community
hope this helps you..............

in addition i would like to ask the following;
is it Mcafee Livesafe or Totalprotection that you are trying to install ?
it seems that there is in the Microsoft Store a Mcafee app called Mcafee Personal Security.
this app should run in Windows S mode and has a free version and paid version.
maybe the following info can be further help;
McAfee KB - McAfee system requirements for Windows, Mac, and Linux (TS102471)
from the above link scroll down the page to see the info for Windows S mode
and
McAfee KB - How to use McAfee Personal Security 2.x on Windows 10 S (TS102869)
hope this info helps anwering your question perhaps.
greetings
