I keep having my PDF's blocked by Total Protection with the File less Threat message when I try and open them from Google Drive on my PC. I haven't had this problem before, if I download the files to my PC Directly there is no issue, if I open them using Chrome online, there is no issue. It's just in the last 24 hours I cannot open a PDF file, any PDF file from my shared folders on Google Drive without the software blocking it. This is a must use, I deal with these files daily, countless times, I cannot download them all to my PC every time I want to use one. My CAD Files and and JPG images anything else works fine. The PDF's I create and copy out to the shared folders on Google drive won't open. I can create PDF's and save to this drive I just can't open them once there in Adobe from Google Drive without getting the file less threat message. Total scanned computer, even scanned with Malwarebytes, nothing fixes it. This worked on Wednesday no issue. Started Yesterday. I've exhausted my limited knowledge.
Hi @Willwoody79
Can you please check by turning off real time scan in McAfee total protection and try downloading the files and update us on the outcome. Also let us know the current version installed on the device.
Thanks,
@Magesh Turning off real time protection corrected the issue.
I am running Mcafee
Total Protection Version 16 Release 16.0 R36
The latest Adobe Acrobat Reader I just redownloaded it yesterday to try and solve the issue.
Hi @Willwoody79
Can you also please check if you are able to access word or excel while RTS is on. Please try re installing the Application and let us know the outcome.
Thanks,
@Magesh I have no issues opening Google Drive documents via google drive share.
No issues with Word or Excel
@Magesh Removal and reinstallation did not fix the issue.
I have similar problem but with Word and Excel files. I'm using McAfee Lifesafe 16.0, Real-time Scanning blocks all of my word/excel files whenever I open them in Google Drive shared folders. Turning off RTS fixes this but that seems to be excessively inconvenient tho.
The excel issue is a known issue many posts re that recently as well as a couple of workarounds
