McAfee Security Center

Jump to solution

Hello,

I am getting really annoyed by McAfee's "new update" pop-ups, it interrupts me while I'm doing my work and it tabs me out of programs.

I looked everywhere but I can't find any option to disable it.

I don't want to install the updates because after that I can't use McAfee unless I restart my computer, and I can't just restart my computer every minute I please.

Please, could you tell me how to disable updates so I can look for them manually?

Because this makes me want to uninstall McAfee.

Thanks in advance,

Nathan

You can turn off the automatic updating but you can't stop it notifying you that updates are available or overdue as it is in your own interests to make sure the software is up to date.

Not all updates require a restart, that happens only when major software updates occur, not the daily DAT antivirus update.

On the other hand as most updates don't require a restart as I just mentioned why not leave the setting at automatic and then it will happen silently.

At first it will tell you it updated but you can then click the 'Don't show me this again' box.
