Re: automatically shutdown

Did you previously have any security software installed prior to McAfee?

It will also help us to know what operating system you are using, what browser you use , the type of internet connection, amount of ram

Re: automatically shutdown

McAfee needs an updated Internet Explorer to function properly so I would highly recommend you update it to at least Version 8 as I do not believe even Microsoft offers support anymore for IE6. As far as your preference for a browser you can continue to use Firefox but again your IE is outdated and this may be causing you your issue.

Re: automatically shutdown

  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
  3. Clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure, and then click OK. The error message should remain on the screen so that you can record the error information.

Is the option selected I am trying to see if the , if any, BSOD message is set to show.

Does this happen if Mcafee uninstalled?

What network driver have you? atheros?

Update IE as Tom said

Re: automatically shutdown

i have already unchecked the automatic restart option under advanced settings, it does not show any BSOD error, what i am trying to say is it takes around 2-3 secs and PC is turned off, (i think hard disk stops responding).
