VirusScan API Daily Update Module has encountered a problem...

I'm posting this after much frustration after following several threads here...somebody HELP!!

I have securitycenter 9, windows xp SP3, and a Dell Latitude d530.

In SecurityCenter it tells me that my detection signature file is more than 30 days old, so naturally i attempt to update. About halfway through this update a message pops up: "McAfee VirusScan API Daily Update Module has encountered a problem and needs to close" The error report for it says it's version 13.15...

Also, when this happens the Mcafee icon in the taskbar turns into a blue/black colored blob and a message says "Your computer is not fully protected."

I have tried uninstalling/re-installing, i used the MSCPRXFIX.exe program as well as the MCPR.exe program to remove all of the Mcafee program. I also chatted twice with mcafee tech support, to no avail.

Any help would really be appreciated.
