Unable to install McAfee

I have a licensed copy of McAfee. I have been getting a warning - your computer is at risk.

I tried McAfee Virtual Technician, but it could not resolve the issue.

Then I unstalled McAfee and ran MCPR utility.

However, I am not able to install McAfee now. I get the message - you must restart your computer before installing McAfee products.

I have restarted more than 2 times, still I am unable to install.

Re: Unable to install McAfee

When you ran MCPR perhaps it wasn't successful.  Try running it a  second time and make sure you reboot immeduately afterwards before trying anything else.

You are right. It was not successful. I ran it 2 more times, but it is still unsuccessful. I also rebooted. what could be the reason?

Re: Unable to install McAfee

I'm not sure, what was the McAfee software you uninstalled called?  Also is the MCPR you are using a freshly downloaded copy?

McAfee security center. Yes, I used a freshly downloaded copy of MCPR.

Re: Unable to install McAfee

Well you have two choices.  Contact Technical Support and have them deal with it.  It's free by phone or online chat and linked under Useful Links at the top of this page or you can try the rather long and laborious registry cleanup which may or may not allow a fresh installation to occur.

I'm tending to favour the Technical Support choice...if I were you.

Re: Unable to install McAfee

Hi...

Please go to Start> All Programs> Start up.

You will find a file containing Mcreboot in the name. Delete the file and try running the installation.

If you are unable to delete or the issue persists even after that then try to install McAfee in a new User account. You can delete the new user account after installation.

If that even doesn't work, please let know... Have few other work arounds.
