Hi,

     Try this,

Windows XP :

  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. Double-click the C : drive.
  3. Right-click the Sysprep folder, and select Rename.
  4. Rename the Sysprep folder to OLDsysprep.
  5. Close Windows Explorer.
  6. Right-click the M icon in your taskbar and select either Activate product or Activate Now.

Having same issue, been trying for week and a half, on windows vista 64, no issues with firefox, dont use internet explorer, product just hangs at actication, tried both retail install from disk and download, i can let it go for 24 hours same thing, had chat request going for week +, i have tried all suggestions, including the macfee cleanup tool, no clue how protected i am with a version with out, up to date definitions. Any help would be apprieciated hate the idea of paying $10 just to be able to install my purchased software. Debating if I should just eat the cash and buy a competitor.

P.S. Virtual Tech says I don't have any Mcafee products installed

I'm having the same issue.  Bought a 3 user edition on disc; it ran perfectly on a newer laptop with Vista.  Went to install on second computer with Windows XP, and it wouldn't run the .exe program - nothing would happen.  Downloaded the web version and the same thing would happen, i.e. nothing.  Downloaded and ran the MVT and pre-install programs and they downloaded and ran fine.  Stinger found nothing, and I had run 2010 antivirus last week without a hitch.  Is there a virus/trojan that prevents McAfee from installing?  I tried a chat with customer service, but they curtly informed me that this was beyond their capabilities.  Now I'm kinda' stuck as 2010 McAfee expired.  Any suggestions?

No error messages. It looks like it is trying, (clock just turns) then it just blinks off.

Yes that worked as far as getting the activation to connect. Thanks.

NEW problem, now McAfee is asking for a product key.

NO barcode key as shown was included in this retail purchase.McAfee activation says if no product key is available, I can sign up for a 30 day trial.

I have never had this much trouble with any software.

After spending so much money and time on McAfee I am debating if I should just scrap McAfee and go to a competitor.

Thanks again
