Mcafee Security Center Corrupted Windows Defender

Brief:
* Using new Acer desktop with Windows Vista
* I just bought a new computer, it had 2 months free McAfee with the option to extend to a 1 yr. contract at a reduced price.
* Before paying for and downloading the extended software from McAfee's website the 2 month trial version worked seamlessly with Windows Defender.
* Now that the download is complete for the Security Center Windows Defender has corrupted, will not open through any method, and displays the issues 0x800106ba and ANIWZCS2 on start up. Th error message recommends restarting the computer but that does not work. The error message also recommends opening the program manually (using Windows Defender of course) which can't be done because the "program" is Windows Defender in the first place. I also can't remove Windows Defender from automatically loading when Windows starts because you evidently have to use Windows Defender to do that too.

Please advise on how to get the two programs to either work together or stop Windows Defender from automatically loading at start-up.

RE: Mcafee Security Center Corrupted Windows Defender

as you have mcafee installed so you can easily turn windows defender off..go to services.msc buy typing in search in start menu of vista..it will show you services..so open it and find windwos defender service and double click on it and choose disabled..now one more step..use some startup manager..like tune up start up manager and remove windows defender entry from there..now you won't get this error and don't worry you are safe..

if you want to delete it by editing registry without tune up software than go to by typing regedit again in search box of vista it will show many enteries. go to the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\RUN

delete the string value that is:

Windows Defender User Interface

if you from some reason want to revert back than creat the same entry in registry in this location and turn on you service by going to service.msc

you can backup you regisrty value and export the single run key to some where safe place..

RE: Mcafee Security Center Corrupted Windows Defender

"The 2009 McAfee consumer products for Windows Vista disable Microsoft Windows Defender to improve system performance. Windows Vista users who have installed the 2009 McAfee consumer products should not enable Windows Defender."
