Well I tried deleting it, apparently it is a shortcut, and says:
McAfee Internet Secruity Suite
Get 30 FREE days of McAfee Protection. Protect what you value.
Deleting htis shortcut does not uninstall the program. It only removes the icon that points to the program, if you want to un in stall,,
use Programs and Features.
So it was merely an ad....so is it gone now?
Yep, I sent it to my Recycling bin, and Emptied it, and it done no harm to my McAfee.
Thanks for your help.
That's good, all the best.
You dont need to contact customer support.
You first need to download the MCPR.exe (McAfee Consumer Product Removal-Tool) from Mcafees website. (https://download.mcafee.com/molbin/iss-loc/SupportTools/MCPR/MCPR.exe)
Then, while it is running you need to open the Task manager and force stop some of the Mcafee processes that are running in the background. You can see if it worked when the processbar keeps moving.
If it shows that the deinstallation was not complete, dont worry. After a system restart mcafee should not run anymore.
