Re: McSvHost.exe causes error on Shutdown

No Problem. I just wanted you to know that I am not unhappy with any of the people on this Forum.

It is McAfee and its lack of support and a fix that is oirritating to me and thousands of others I am sure.

I can only imagine the thousands of users it has lost because of the last few events!

Re: McSvHost.exe causes error on Shutdown

PeaceKeeper,

I have asked before and did not receive an answer. So, I ask again:  how do I get a refund for this faulty product? It was installed in March of this year, and problems began in early April with the shutdown error issue. That is not acceptable. I removed McAfee Total Protection from my two computers yesterday and installed a different vendor's product. I am sick and tired of the unfixed shutdown errors McAfee caused on both of my computers. I don't appreciate being asked to fiddle around with my computer with experimental solutions while McAfee stalls us and fails to solve the problem that is clearly theirs, at their own admission. So how do I get a refund?

Somer,

You say "OUR" Customer service, so can I assume that you are on the payroll from McAfee?

Yes I am. I write the knowledgebase articles for the consumer products and help out with communications in the community. If you would prefer, I can arrange for Customer Service to contact you? If so, send me a private message with your contact information and I'll arrange it.

Re: McSvHost.exe causes error on Shutdown

Thank you Somer,

I wonder what is it that Customer Service can do for me?

Do they have a fix for the shutdown problem that the rest of us are not aware of yet? Are they here in the USA?

Can they tell me why McAfee has not fixed the problem yet?

If not, I'm not interested.

Last time I let someone from McAfee fumble around in my computer, he had NO idea what he was doing and tried to blame the problem on Microsoft, which in the end, it Wasn't their fault, it was a McAfee problem but NO one ever paid me for all my time trying to sort it out.

Thanks,

N6WK

Re: McSvHost.exe causes error on Shutdown

Anything having to do with Subscriptions (including refunds) they can help with. We've got Customer Service globally, but as I'm in the US I'd be setting it up with someone in my own office.

I'm not sure what they could do about the actual issue, as they're not technical, but they could discuss your concerns and get someone technical involved. I'd be more than happy to get that setup, just let me know.

Thanks,

Peacekeeper

Re: Update issue reimbursement and apology

RE the update issue this from the Mcafee US web site. If you incur a cost to fix it read the comment re reimbursement and note if you have this issue and your PC was impaired contact Mcafee for a 2year extension of your subscription.

No mention of Somers way to copy a new file over .

If you are currently running Windows XP we recommend checking to
ensure you have the latest security update
.

If you are one of a small percentage of McAfee’s consumer customers who
has an inoperable or severely impaired PC as a result of the faulty file
released earlier this week, we want to sincerely apologize for the
inconvenience.  Our immediate priority is to get you back up and
running.

Here are the steps you can take.

Step 1 – Locate
a local toll free support number
for your country.  A qualified
technician is standing by to diagnose your computer’s current status and
determine the fastest way to get you up and running again.

Step 2 – If the technician can’t get your system up and running over the
phone, we’ll get you the software to get your system up and running
again.   We can get you the software in one of two methods.  You can
either download
the software fix from a working PC
, or we will deliver a CD to you
overnight.

If you have already incurred costs to repair your PC as a result of this
issue, we’re committed to reimbursing reasonable expenses.  Steps to
process your reimbursement request will be posted in the next few days.
Please check back here in a few days.

Because we value our loyal customers, if your PC was rendered inoperable
or severely impaired as a result of the faulty file released you are
eligible for a two year extension of your existing McAfee subscription
free of charge.  Instructions will be made available during your call
with the technician.

We’re committed to getting this issue resolved for all our customers
worldwide as quickly as possible.
