McAfee not installing due to JavaScript error

Hi - I am trying to install McAfee and it gives this error message,

--------------------------------------------------

"Installation Cannot Continue

We're having trouble installing your McAfee sofware because JavaScript is not working correctly on this PC."

--------------------------------------------------

Does anyone how to resolve this issue? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!

RE: McAfee not installing due to JavaScript error

hi,

are you using windows XP or Vista?

if you are using vista, try this:

click on the start button(windows logo on Vista)
on the field "start search" type "cmd" without the qoutes, an icon will apear on the top part.
right click on that icon then select "Run as Administrator"
type "regsvr32 jscript.dll" without the quotes on the black window that will apear then press Enter(A message will appear confirming that the process was succesful) Restart your PC then try to download McAfee again.

hope this helps happy

RE: For XP S3

Hi. I've been busting my butt with this one..
I had BitDefender Full Security 2009 installed, then, becuase I was stupid, I installed McAfee while BDnull was still installed. Took me a lot of time to straighten it up. I had to uninstall both programs. Now it's okay, but when I try to reinstall McAfee, it comes with the same message you guys got. And yes, I've tried the cmd thing, updated a new version of JavaScript and such, but nothing seems to work.

Running Vista Home Premium x64

Any help would be very much appreciated happy

RE: For XP S3

Yes, every time I put in the command and got the success message I rebooted, and still I get the same message on the McAfee Download Manager (DMsetup.exe)
