Hi Danii,
Anti Virus applications are Powerful applications that designed to Defend against Malwares and Hackers. Having Two Anti-Virus programs doesn't double your security by any means, Instead causes a conflict between them causing system failures and crashes. It is no wonder that you had it already but once the AV's receives the latest updates problem arises.
Hope you Understand..!
Regards
Thought that you had the paid version disable the real time scanning option and see if Mcafee still acts up. Also then if this teh case you can manually scan with SAS at a time Mcafee is not active.
SAS is not an anti virus program. As I said I can do a Full scan with McAfee it will be clean....I can immedietly follow that with SAS and it will find malware that McAfee will not find. This is not a secret.
I will now disable the realtime of SAS and give it a day to see what happens then report back
Thank I appreciate everyone answering
OK good luck. SAS is bound to find stuff that McAfee doesn't, it's meant to do that. As would be Malwarebytes for instance. The last link in my signature below contains some that I would recommend, including SAS, but not the Pro version.
It still could be infection. I also suggest you run a few other tools just in case, I recommend MalwareBytes Free (don't accept the trial to keep it free) and, if the issue continues, you might take my Hijackthis suggestion lower down that last link in my signature below for independent expert advice.
Always keep everything up to date especially browsers (ALL of them regardless of which one you use) and their add-ons. In SecurityCenter under PC and Home Network Tools, there is a tool called Vulnerability Scanner which can help with that in many cases.
.
My disabling of SAS in realtime, then re-booting seemed to get rid of the millions of I/O in mcshield.exe
Thank you for that advice.
I have also long had the free version of Malwarebytes.
Do yu think SAS pro............and MB free..............will find things the other will not.................that has been my experience.............its usually harmless adware.
Thanks, again I will come back if anything continues.
I appreciate all of your time in answering.
It's a good idea to keep them handy and update them regularly and scan periodically. It's normal for them to find things that any antivirus wouldn't, that's what they are designed for. Glad it helped 😉
Good to see that was the issue. Yes both fine as backup scanners I use them weekly just no real time scanning option on them please.
After a week or so of running without SAS in realtime............my computer is still being crippled by mcshield................today the input outputs in taskbar are over 21 million....this is causing latency of around ten seconds for the simplist command from a click.
This happens for hours at a time and then will be OK for hours at a time.
I don't know what to do.
