Re: McAfee - Stopped Working Error in Win-7

Interesting thread implies no solution but noone followed it up.

Of interest what version have you installed, there is a new 1 out everywhere now. Security centre should be 11.0

If you haven't got this and are on a subscription ie bought from Mcafee  I would firstly suggest an uninstall - reinstall attempt.

Uninstalll

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100507

reboot and run

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/Mcpreinstall.exe

and reinstall from your account.

Re: McAfee - Stopped Working Error in Win-7

Hi,

A simple thought, right click on McAfee icon and select properties. Go to compatibility tab and uncheck compatibility mode and try to open McAfee.

Re: McAfee - Stopped Working Error in Win-7

Compatibility mode not checked anyway. Security Center version is 11 from May 31st update. Here is error log for most recent event. Sorry it looks like this. It took me awhile to figure out how to paste it in here at all. I think updater is still attempting to look for updates even though it's 'turned off', which generates this message. It's a minor annoyance since I have to keep an eye on large downloads to make sure the message hasn't popped up which causes downloads to pause. I think I'll just turn auto updates back on and see what happens. I've changed Win 7 settings to not interrupt sleep mode for any reason so if that works no more problem.

Re: McAfee - Stopped Working Error in Win-7

I'm getting the same error, twice so far.  I have a new DELL with McAfee pre-installed.  Running the latest version as it appears to be updating OK.  I'm doing my updates manually as I don't want things happening to my PC without me knowing about.  I like to perform the updates while I have all applications stopped.

I haven't seen any windows pop-up telling me that anything else is wrong so I think it's all OK.  Attempting to download a test virus is blocked OK.

Re: McAfee - Stopped Working Error in Win-7

Hello.  I am glad I came across this thread.  I got the same error when McAfee tried to do a "Scheduled Scan".  The McAfee icon disappeared from the taskbar.  After I clicked on "Check online for a solution and close program", the McAfee icon reappeared on the taskbar and "Scheduled Scan" just started right up.

I have McAfee (2010 version) installed on HP Mini Netbook Windows 7 32-bit SP 1.  This McAfee came from my ISP (Cox Communications).

Is this a virus causing this?  Or a malware?  Is my laptop protected?  I did a full scan and scheduled scan and NO viruses/malwares were discoverd.

Thanks,

northernva2000
