McAfee Security Scan Plus

Jump to solution

Hi  ~  currently having a problem with McAfee Security Scan Plus.  Have emailed them on a number of occasions, but a long silence from the other end.  This is the problem  ~  I run my Security Scan Plus, and it tells me that "Virus and Spyware Protection" is ON, "Firewall Protection" is ON  ~  but that "McAfee Web Protection" is NOT FOUND.  The first time this happened I clicked the link and found I had to pay another £47.99 (anuually) for "Safe Connect" (I'm already paying £89.99 annually for "McAfee Protection")  ~  should I be paying both??  And even with that, I'm still getting "McAfee Web Protection NOT FOUND"....   What gives?

Hello @CharleyFarley

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

McAfee is aware of this issue and our Engineering Team will fix this issue in upcoming updates. This issue happens since McAfee Security Scan Plus is unable to detect McAfee WebAdvisor installed on your computer.

Meanwhile, we have a workaround that will fix the issue. Please follow the below steps,

  • Go to Control Panel (or) press and hold Windows Key + R. Type appwiz.cpl
  • Please look for WebAdvisor by McAfee
  • Uninstall it and restart the computer
  • Install WebAdvisor
  • After installing, please open McAfee Security Scan Plus
  • Click Scan now
  • It shouldn't show Web Protection as Off

Please follow the above steps and let us know the outcome.

Regards,
Madhan M
