Is There A New Version of the Virtual Technician

the security history for my mcafee internet security 11.6 will not load. when i click on "security history" i get the "please wait" prompt and the mcuihost.exe begins to take up a lot of cpu. when i close the security history window after waiting for several minutes, the mcuihost.exe is still going and i have to end the process via windows task manager.

i wanted to run the virtual technician to see if it could find any problems, but after it does a bit of scanning i get the message, "mcafee virtual technician cannot check your computer. cannot find mcafee products on your system. click here to find a list of supported products" and on the page it links to, version 11.6 is not among the supported products.

is there a new version of the virtual technician that is compatible with mcafee internet security 11.6?

thank you

Re: Is There A New Version of the Virtual Technician

I am having the exact same problem.  Ever since the introduction

of the version of McAfee's Security History that allows the user to

choose from day or week or whatever, it has been taking longer and

longer to access my Security History.  Now, I can't get access to it

at all.  I think that this might be a glitch on McAfee's part.

It reminds me of the situation with Navigation > Quarantined

and Trusted Items > Quarantined Potentially Unwanted Programs, where

it used to be that if you had McAfee set to detect and delete cookies,

the list of Quarantined Potentially Unwanted Programs would become

so large that the feature would be inaccessible.  There was a fix for

that problem, though, whereby the file could be located on one's hard

drive and flushed.  I wish there was a similar fix for the Security

History issue.

I have the process management program called Process Lasso Pro

(made by Bitsum Technologies), and there is a feature where if you

click on the All processes tab and place your cursor over a process,

you get a box that shows a whole lot of information, including the

location of the process on your hard drive.

This is the location given for mcuihost.exe (see attachment for

screen capture JPG of Process Lasso's information):

"C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcuihost.exe"

/body:misp://mscjsres.dll::logs.html/id:misp://mscjsres.dll::logs.html

The presence of html in the pathway makes me wonder whether

McAfee's current Security History feature requires retrieving data

from the internet.

Hi,

How did you purchase the McAfee whether it is from McAfee site or you have got it from any Internet Provider

>How did you purchase the McAfee whether it is from McAfee site

I originally got it via Dell.  I got my computer in 2005, so

I have had to renew McAfee a few times.  And I've had to re-format

a bunch of times, and therefore had to install fresh copies of

McAfee a few times.

Back in April of 2012, I signed up for three more years of

McAfee SecurityCenter after having received a discount offer from

McAfee via e-mail, so I now have an expiration date of 12/20/2015.

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002

with Service Pack 3 on a Dell XPS 400 Pentium D CPU 3.00 GHz,

with a 160 GB hard drive and 3 GB of RAM (the PC came installed

with only 1 GB of RAM).
