on 6/4/13 11:20:50 PM CDTWhat is the application name and version The about tab will show this either on the opening page or in navigation.
The name should be in the program and file listing is is for every PC I have seen though maybe as it is a trial toshiba has hidden it.
Using this program (MCPR) shown HERE will remove it maybe run it two times to be sure.
This advice does not work for a Dell preinstall. I have no paid subscription, I registered, and I get nothing related to deactivate the account. Given the nightmares I have read about uninstalling this, please, tell me how to proceed. Thanks!
It should work for any installation. Simply uninstall the normal way through Control Panel > Programs or use the Tutorial here to see how to uninstall a program in Windows 8 http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/77761-programs-features-uninstall-change-program.html or another one here: https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=27423
Then run the MCPR cleanup tool linked in Tony's post or here: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe and reboot. That should be all that's needed and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
If Dell have somehow mangled their version of it then their support desk should be able to help.
However McAfee Technical Support is always free by phone or online chat and linked under Useful Links at the top of this page.
