Fix Protection

I am running 9.3 and get the check protection status. This happens repeatedly. The red "X" shows part of protection must be fixed. It's the computer & files and E-mail & IM that always needs action required. I hit the fix button and everything is then enabled and fine until it happens again.

This happens many times a day, day after day.

It is also happening on my wife's computer.

I ran the virtual technician that found nothing.

What is causing this to happen? It's a pain in the _____. Also, it happens when computer at idle so I'm worried the computer is not protected.

hi,

next time that you get the not protected message in your mcafee security center please don't hit fix just yet rather ran the mcafee virtual technician in my signature and post the session ID here.

hi,

sorry for the delayed reply... i was out for a while...

regarding the fix i'm not so sure if this is related to the DAT issue that was experienced last week...

can you check the following please on both your computer and your wife's please:

DAT version of your mcafee

to get this open mcafee and click on the about button on the lower right corner of your screen. in the new window go to virus scan and take note of the DAT version... please post it here.

can you also check if you have other security softwares installed in the computer...
furthermore kindly check as well if the computer did an automatic update prior to having experienced the problem.

Checked and found DAT 5695.

There is no other security software on the computer.

There were no updates prior to experiencing the problem.

Hi,

when your mcafee is not protected showing that computer and files and email and IM needs attention there will show an information on what the exact problem is (Right panel)... kindly provide me what that is... thanks...
