Ex_Brit, I guess I'm a little confused as to what a false update is.  I did force the running update to complete via the usual method that I have learned by right clicking on the stuck spinning icon to view the running update, after which there was no change in the current engine or any other program parameter but not every check for update, which occurs several times a day automatically, results in an actual update. Will some automatic checks for update complete normally if there is an actual update or change in signature codes or version?

Sorry, I mean an update that really is a false alarm, sorry, it's just my way of describing something.  Updates occur when they are available to you on the server.  There may not be any update at all for 24 or more hours, that's normal.

Confirmed the fix is in 14.0.5042 but it will be a while to test and QA it but at least they seem to have it worked out.

Good day.

I have been putting up with the rotating wheel on the task bar icon for ages.

Will not go away unless reboot or click on it and it updates normally and closes.

Just found this thread today so posted so I will know when it gets fixed.

Not re installed since last not updating issue.

Where do I find the build number near the one above 14.0.5042

Dell W7 laptop

Security centre build date 14.0.4119

AV build date 18.0.4054

engine 2360

It is being beta tested right now and should be released sometime in September.

You can get it by uninstalling your current software, enrolling in the beta programme and downloading from there, but warning, there is only limited support for beta, it's at your own risk.

See the link below.

Ex-Brit,

The McAfee SecurityCenter Build 14.0.5084 has been installing on my various machines since Saturday and, as advertised, the update stall at bootup is fixed.

Thanks.

Good evening all.

Some good news at last then.

Will I get an Automatic update for this issue?

Or will we all have to un -install clean up and re install again please.

Cheers Andy
