unprotected ?

I am also getting multiple warnings that I am unprotected. I do the fix, but it keeps getting unprotected

Real time scanning disabled
Spyware disabled
IM disabled
script scanning disabled
Buffer overflow disabled

Security center version 9
build 9.0.286
last update 11/8/08

Virus scan
Version 13.0
Build 13.0.218
last update 11/8/08
Dat ver 5427.000
engine 5300.2777

Personal firewall
Version 10
Build 10.0.209
Site advisor
Version 2.8
Build 2.8.255

Windows 2000 up to date on all updates

Also error messages mcshield.exe has generated errors and will be closed
mcods exe has generated errors

I can sometimes do a quick scan. It does not find any problems

Cannot run full scan. Get mcshield and mcods errrors

I have followed all ideas I have seen in other posts:
Virtual technician:
can't fix Service startup type is incorrect, expect manual, existing disable McSysmon

I ran superantispyware. It found worm.Rbt variant and deleted it

I uninstalled Mcafee from Add/Change, and also used MCPR Tool (would not advance from preparing, so I had to remove it from task scheduler) Ran it in Safe Mode and it worked

I Also deleted a couple of Mcafee files in Program files that were still there.

I reinstalled Mcafee

I ran Trend Micro House call. It did not find anything.

Any ideas and how to get things working properly again?
All help is appreciated. I have spent over 2 days on this already. Thank you

Unprotected - Same issue

I have this too. I am sick of it already! Spent too many hours trying to sort this out.

Everytime I use the internet McAfee decides to download updates. It has already downloaded 3 separate updates today!! Everything runs slowly or crashes and then I unprotected alert.

Black icon with red cross.

Computer & Files unprotected
Email & IM unprotected
Buffer overflow disabled
Script Scan disabled
IM Scan disabled
Spyware Scan disabled/off
Real time scan disabled/off

System Guard is sometimes disabled and shows yello exclamation mark.

Sys Tray Icon is Black - is this normal? On hover over it says Personal Firewall Plus: Disabled but cannot find anything to do with Personal Firewall Plus nor have I turned it on or found a McAfee help section page for this problem on the main McAfee site or on Forum.

Recently renewed subscription and downloaded from McAfee site. Renewal date is only one month away now instead of 12 months!!

Checked incompatible programs - uninstalled through Add/Remove and deleted anything lingering found.

When closing some open program windows they disappear slowly by scrolling down the screen until they disappear!

Have uninstalled and reinstalled McAfee.

Have run Virtual Technician Session: 13074484 - No problems found. Logs saved on PC.

I am trying to apply for jobs as I am currently unenployed and the damned PC is playing me up all the time. Also I am sending lots of personal information via CV and do not want my PC being vulnerable!!

What is going on? This seems to be a repeat ongoing problem with the software. I am considering changing when the subscription runs out. This is ridiculuos. I switched from Norton AntiVirus on my old machine because it was just as troublesome.

McAfee - PLEASE sort this out!!

what to do next?

I am still waiting for some really needed help with this issue

I also noticed that the updates are being checked, but nothing is actually being updated.

While I am waiting for some answers, can I run the free Mcafeee scan even though I have security center? Should I disable Sc?

thanks

Thanks very much...am trying this now BUT.....

Your link "http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=1033" just brings up and error:

This is not the first time I have had this error trying to use links in this forum. Anything I need to do my end?
