suspicious files

Jump to solution

Hi, SecurityCenter,

Some files on my pc I do not recognize as mine. Scanning with Mcafee does not show a security threat or virus. How can I send these files to Mcafee experts to check them for security and to know where they come from and what they mean to do. Thanks.

Gr. Harm

Hi @HarmH

Greetings from McAfee.

Kindly follow the below steps to send suspicious files to our experts for inspection.

  • Open McAfee >>> Click Anti-Virus >>> Turn on to improve your virus protection.

We would like to inform  you that is intended for users who suspect undetected malware on their computer which help us to understand and eliminates the need for deep technical knowledge of computer systems to isolate undetected malware. It does this by using a combination of heuristics and querying the McAfee Global Threat Intelligence (GTI) File Reputation database to gather suspicious files.

If this information was helpful in any way or answered your question, please mark it as the accepted solution and give Kudos if appropriate.

Hari

Re: suspicious files

Hi Mcafee security experts,

Thank you very much for your answer. Surely Ncafee sends any suspicious file from my pc to Mcafee when a scan is made.

However after several scans for two suspicious files I did not receive any message from Mcafee, as agreed upon through Mcafee app, when the app sends the files to Mcafee.

Thus I assume these two files are not considered malware.

These files are not by me put on my pc. Their contents is strange and not what one would like to read unexpectedly on one's pc. Therefore I would like to send them directly by myself to Mcafee. How is this done?

Then, hopefully I can receive some information that clears the matter of what these files mean and whether I should be aware and carefull for such files.

Is there available an email address Mcafee security service can be reached with?

Thanks, Harm
