hi, i've been trying to install mcafee onto my new bulid and it states that there is an issue with my internet
my system specs are:
sapphire AMD 740G
AMD phenom X3 8750
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4650
i am running XP SP2
the attached file show the error in full
Well for starters you should be running XP SP3. There's help with that here:
https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2007
Support for XP SP2 stopped on July 13 last year, so that means you are most likely missing many updates both critical and non-critical.
Now try this...
1. Open Internet Explorer and click Tools -> Internet options.
2. Click on Connections tab.
3. Click LAN Settings… and a window named LAN Settings will open.
4. Uncheck all options and click on Ok.
5. Close Internet Explorer window.
Run the MCPR removal tool to remove any remants of McAfee, reboot.
Run the McPreinstall tool and start installing again.
Did you have any security software installed previously, if so what?
Hi BabyFulf,
Can you try doing this:
1. Please open Internet Explorer and click Tools -> Internet options.
2. Please click on Connections tab.
3. Click LAN Settings… and a window named LAN Settings will open.
4. Please uncheck all options and click on Ok.
5. Please close Internet Explorer window.
See if this works.
Thanks.
sorry, do you now how to do that in firefox and would i need to turn foxeyproxey off and i'm just downloading the SP3 update
Hi,
It would be better to do it in IE, seeing as it would do it for the computer as a whole.
(I think?)
Thanks.
Are you using a proxy service, if so it is authenticated (password-protected)?
If so you will have problem downloading and even updating McAfee consumer software.
Can you make Internet Explorer your default browser until this is all over?
not that i know of the only proxy service i have is foxyproxy and thats in firefox and i've disabled it and turned IE into my defualt
That's a relief. Thanks.
