For the last year or so, for every 5 minutes or so, I get the most annoying pop-up from McAfee that asks me to reboot my PC. Right after I reboot, 5 minutes later, it will pop-up and ask me to reboot again.
This is seriously annoying and I am considering uninstalling my McAfee.
I am running Windows Vista x32 on my Dell PC.
Can someone please help?

Hi kytango,
Kindly follow the below steps and run the bat file and let us know if you still have any issues with the restart prompt.
Regards,
Thanks for the response, Dinesh.
I followed your instructions but unfortunately, i get:
- HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\McAfee\Volatile\MSC
- HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\McAfee\Volatile\RebootFlag
ERROR: Access is denied
Please restart the computer
Press any key to continue . . .
So unfortunately, your suggestion did not work. Can you help?
You cannot modify without disabling McAfee Access Protection.
To disable AP please follow the below steps
Now try to edit the registry key and once you completed this do remember to enable the AP.
I followed your instructions step by step but unfortunately, I get the same: ERROR: Access is denied.
Just FYI, I'm running McAfee Security Center on my home PC, so I am the admin.
What else can I do to fix this annoying daily problem?
Much thanks
Have you downloaded the file TS100430.bat into your computer and right click on it and selected 'Run As Administrator'?
Hi, thanks for the pointer. I was able to sucessfully download and run TS100430.bat.
After rebooting my PC, I did not see the Reboot popup for a little bit (estimate 10 minutes)... but then it reappeared!
As such, unfortunately, it does not seem like the Reboot popup bug was fixed.
What else can I do to fix this annoying daily problem?
Hi kytango,
This seems like a different software triggering the update prompt to appear on screen . & Sorry for the inconvenience caused here due to the issue , Can you please click on Useful links at the top of this page and click on Technical support so as our technician could diagnose the issue and get it resolved for you .
Regards,
I followed the steps outlined here again but this time, I did not go back to select the option Use Access Protection. Over the last 12 hours, I have not seen the annoying popup.
Perhaps it's the Use Access Protection selection that's causing this?
Is there any risk to my anti-virus to have Use Access Protection deselected?
Thanks
It is not recommended to disable Access Protections. Please try to enable the AP and if the issue reoccurred it’s better to contact McAfee Support team as Dinz said for better diagnostic and issue resolution.
