Sorry, yes it was from Dell
Hi Hayton
You asked us to provide some information, which we have done. Does that help you to offer us some guidance/suggestions as to how to resolve this problem?
As the day has progressed, it is clear that many others are having the same problem. And there may be many more who use automatic updates who don't realise they have the problem - yet!
In related threads, there has been a suggestion that uninstalling/reinstalling McAfee may be the way ahead because version 11.6 is then replaced by version 12.1. Do you agree with this? If so, how do we go about the process?
Hi nancydrew,
Call McA Tech help, free call...866-622-3911 and they will walk you through it. I think they only work 5 days, from 8am CT to 5pm CT?
The Mods here can give you instructions, if you prefer.
The uninstall/reinstall wasn't as bad as i had anticipated. 2 machines that i did this morning took over an hour in total.
@nancydrew & ukchrisr, the Technical Support link for your area would be via the link under Useful Links at the top of the page. It's free by phone or online chat.

All by myself, I uninstalled Security Center (but not Site Advisor Live), downloaded and reinstalled the same version of Security Center. It did not take long and I am on DAT 7049. Everything else is working fine.
Don't know what the problem was, as anti spam and Site Advisor were still updating and MVT did not report a problem.
I used uninstall a program in Control Panel to uninstall and then logged into McAfee.com and my account to download and install Security Center. I got the same version, but it worked. I am on DAT 7049.
If you uninstall it's always best to run the MCPR cleanup tool afterwards to remove all traces (Useful Links above) reboot and then reinstall.
SiteAdvisor live should be available on your account anyway.

I do not know anything about version 12.1 or where to find it to install as I was given the same version to download.
I did not know about the cleanup tool, but at least it is OK so far. McAfee scanned and checked my PC before installing the new download.
You should get it eventually. If it's OK now don't worry about the cleanup tool this time around.
