I cannot discover how to post the entire MVT log, but following from
Expected DAT 7045
Existing DAT 7046
I found: Top issue: Corrupt DAT issue
I'm dealing with much of the same issues...except this behavior, an inability to update DAT, while the result of an update check says "up to date" the Sec C splash screen and the McA sys tray icon indicate "computer at risk", is happening on 2 different computers with 2 different operating systems...(W XP and W 7).
Fortunately for me, so far I have a tick in a green box, my computer is secure.
I have just posted under a related thread "More Computer at Risk - with a twist".
User ukchriser still is showing green because the DAT files are not yet 7 days old. Once they are 7 days old, he will get a red "Computer at Risk" as well. I am having the exact same problem on two machines, two different operating systems, both computers from Dell with Mcafee preinstalled (Affid 105). Same DAT version (7046). Manual updates show "Your Programs are Up To Date".
Has to be a server issue. It's affecting multiple users, multiple operating systems, all happening at the same time. I have not been able to get a DAT update since Monday, April 15.
You can manually download DAT updates from Mcafee Enterprise page. More cumbersome than the standard route, but it probably should work. Also that page won't update Boot DAT files or any other version updates to McAfee - only the current DAT file. Hopefully we won't have to do it that way long term. If so, I guess it'll be time to find a new AV program when my subscription expires in July.
Mcafee screwed everyone up last August with the famous (infamous) DAT 6807. I guess every month that starts witnan "A" they screw up their users. I guess McAfee really wants to get rid of their customer base with these cintinual issues.
Thanks for the warning about what will happen when my DAT file is seven days old. I also have Security Center on a Dell. I have not yet had a response from McAfee as why MVT said the expected DAT should be 7045 and as mine was 7046, all was OK. I also pointed out the MVT log stated Top issue: Corrupt DAT issue !
Ukchriser,
I just saw a reply from "photo 111" on the relared thread "More Computer at Risk - with a twist" who says that to correct the problem, you need to do an uninstall/reinstall which when I did it last August for the 6807 DAT problem was not fun - it took forever to do, but I guess if that's the only solution, it'll need to be done.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Security Center and it works. Did not take long!!
When you did re-install, did it go to SC Version 12.1? I think that the re-installs are going to the new version.
Hayton,
What version of SC are you on? Is it 11.6.477? I was just curious because I know that version 12.1 does not use DAT updates, it uses engine updates, so I guess you're not on 12.1. Is it a Dell installation as well?
I've got SC 11.6.477 (the same as before uninstall)
Virus scan 15.6
Firewall 12.6
and I still have my old Site Advisor Live as I did not uninstall that
