I have a Dell XPS 8700, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, with 2 TB hard drive and
16 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system running Windows 7 Home Premium.
On January 4th & 12th and February 9th & 12th, 2018, McAfee's software
update corrupted my McAfee Internet Security. The tipoff is when I
click on the gear icon at the top right and select General settings
and alerts, but find no choices to click on. Then, when I click on
the PC Security tab and then on Firewall in the left column, it says
Firewall: Off.
Running Virtual Assistant doesn't fix the problem. The only solution
I've found is to uninstall McAfee Virtual Assistant, uninstall McAfee
WebAdvisor, uninstall McAfee Internet Security, then run the MCPR.exe
software removal tool, reboot, then reinstall McAfee.
I can't believe I've had to do this four times in six weeks.
