Security Center Problems

My daughter is running a version of McAfee Security Center on Dell All-in-One Computer with a Windows 8.1. operating system.  She's having problems updating her McAfee; it freezes at the 66% on the "Checking for updates" part of the process.  How does she fix it?  The real-time scanning, and updating are on at the same time even though both say "off" when you go in, and check them.

Attached is a print-screen of what she sees when she tries to update.

Then I would suggest contacting Technical Support Services and Support for Home and Office

via Phone/Online Chat being much more expedient.

             Could you kindly provide us the McAfee Security Version/Build please? During the interim please try this 'Work-Around'

1- Open your McAfee Security Center Interface

2- Navigate to General Settings and alerts

3- Uncheck/Disable Access Protection/Apply

4- Check for updates,if successful please turn Access Protection back on.

Also was this a 'Manual On Demand Scan' ? I scan weekly with my 'Scheduled Scan' to commence @ 4:00am when no other tasks are scheduled.

No it wasn't a manual on demand scan.  She tried turning off the "real-time scanning" in order to prod the updates feature past 66%, but it didn't work.

The "work-around doesn't seem to have worked either.  She's running Security Center version 14.0, build number 18.0.5011.

She's also tried joining these forums but has had some issues with security code at the end.
