Has anyone experienced the detected Registry entry in Version 12,8-Build-(934)? Periodically, I run a health check with MVT.
Although I have had no issues, I assumed? Yet after running the "Latest" Version of MVT, I forget the exact wording. But it was in regards to a registry entry that was (No longer Needed) that was installed by an update?
So, I proceeded to allow it to (Automatically Fix said issue) It explained that it needed to remove the entry? After it completed, It said that it had resolved issues, but was unable to solve all? Hmmmmmmm. So my next step was to go (uncheck) Access Protection. Ran it again, and afterwards MVT displayed a prompt, indicating I needed to do a restart in order for it to complete. Which I did.
Upon restart, during the loading of windows, MVT displayed that all issues had been resolved. I immediately then went to "Access Protection" and enabled it again. All seems to be functioning properly, checked out Site Advisor for Malicious Down Loads, detected the "Eicar" Test string, and so on.
I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this?
(Windows 7 Service Pack 1)
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Solved! Go to Solution.
As always, thanks Ex_brit. For I had intended to post it there that MVT functioned perfectly this time around.
All the Best
Thank you Tony. Maybe someone could run the new Version of MVT on Windows 7 Service Pack 1? And see if this can be "Reproduced"
. In addition, I was wondering why I had to "Disable" Access Protection" in order for it to resolve the issues?

Out of curiosity, I downloaded version 126.96.36.19993 of "McAfee Virtual Technician" on the website "http://mvt.mcafee.com" and ran the software on one computer here at home to see what was going.
After doing all almost the same as the "catdaddy" did, at the end after the computer restarts, appeared to me the following message: (See screenshot below) and opened Firefox with the link that also let in the image below.
I just before running the "McAfee Virtual Technician" I disabled the "Access Protection" ( McAfee Total Protection 2014) and after the computer restarts back to activate the "Access Protection".
Also I wonder, what came this time the "McAfee Virtual Technician" fix?
I was still hoping it would fix the problem of "McAfee SiteAdvisor" with Firefox, but not
Thank you for trying to reproduce the here-in mentioned. Yes, those were the "Identical" issues I was presented with as well. I am still at a loss, as to why one has to (Temporarily) disable Access Protection in order for MVT to resolve the issues it detects?
Perhaps this may be better suited to be addressed by someone in MVT, especially being a (New) Version. Like you, I contemplate exactly what "Registry Entries" were no longer needed? As PeaceKeeper has stated, he has brought this to Selvans attention. I,ll await his technical " Diagnosis".
It seems that they are fervently attempting to resolve your Site Advisor issues.
That is a "Good thing" Again, thank you for running the new MVT .
All the best,
Hi Catdaddy / oagard
Kindly post back the MVT session ID which you will receive on running MVT. Also grab the Supportability logs from %appdata%\McAfee\Supportability\MVTLogs\Results\result.xml and post here to proceed further..! We will review them and post back if further information is required..!
Thank you for your response/assistance in regards to my questions. Dog-Gone it !!! Due to intermittent "Severe Thunderstorms-Straightline winds" I regretfully have to shut down for now, until it passes.
I will provide the requested information when it is safe to do so.
Hello Chinthanai Selvan P
At the moment I have no access to the computer where I ran the "McAfee Virtual Technician" this morning (message number 4 of this topic), so I went back to do everything the same, but my other computer, laptop.
Let down the results.
One more note ...
The "McAfee Virtual Technician" is crazy for sure, because I ran the "McAfee Virtual Technician" again here at the laptop, and after running, the state is always the same message (see image below and post earlier in this thread), which will erase some things to correct the error and then always asks to restart.
If I return to again run the "McAfee Virtual Technician" on the same computer, always turn to do the same, delete and ask to restart.
