Phishing

Yesterday I was the intended victim, of a very sophisticated phishing scams that I have ever witnessed.  First I got a notification that McAfee had successfully auto renewed my subscription.  Everything in the notice appeared to be a McAfee generated notification.  Except that it was showing my subscription would be $289 per month.  I immediately called the number and said they needed to cancel and refund my money. (I did not see the fine print at the bottom which said my bank account and I never use that process.).  I got a lady who was just so gracious, gave me her name and phone #, and stated this appears to be fraud, I don't have the authority to cancel, so I need to transfer you to our fraud investigation department.  Now immediately when the man at the so-called fraud department started talking,  I became suspicious and hung before he could start asking me for personal information and bank account number so that he could refund me my money (and syphon off my entire bank account funds.  Clearly, my email has been compromised and I have changed my password.

1)  I would like to know if anyone else in the McAfee community been targeted by this scam.

2) Is it necessary for me to change my email address, or is changing my password sufficient.

Re: Phishing

hello,

in additon to the above;

myself receiving time from time  a fake mail message that looks like it is coming from McAfee.

i just move  it directly to the spamfolder.

the following service doc from McAfee provides a list of legitimate email adresses;

McAfee KB - You get fake emails from scammers posing as McAfee (TS103285)

in case you are receiving another mail looking coming from McAfee you can check it.

if you are not convident i recommend to contact support from the link that the McAfee mod provided in his reply above.

hope this helps
