Re: Not fully protected Message

Hi DESKMCA,

1. Click start – run ; then type Cmd (for vista users right click Command prompt and click run as administrator)
In command prompt window type ping download.mcafee.com and post me with the replies you get there.

2. Open your web browser and check whether you are able to access your mcafee account  page.

Thanks,
Dinesh K

Re: Not fully protected Message

TO DINESH

     Good evening.

I hope that this and the previous Post will assist in finding a solution to my problem.

I have just tried to Scan my Pc ( I assumed wrongly that this process was automatic- for some reason this auto hasn't worked since the 22nd Nov.)

I tried both the Quick and Full Scan. I got the error message in the ATTACHMENT.

Good luck.                     DESKMCA

Re: Not fully protected Message

Hi,

I suspect you’re a system might be affected malware infection. Please clarify and follow the steps suggested below.

Could you please verify if you made any recent changes to the system (Software / hard ware)?

Did you have any issue with downloading the other application (software update) from the internet?

Steps

Try to run the free versions of Malware removal tool: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php clean anything it detected.

Re: Not fully protected Message

Please, does anyone know whats going on at the moment? Further to my previous posts as well as getting the "computer not protected" messages if I go in to configure from security centre when virus scan is apparently running the box is un checked and says it is not. This is even more worrying than before as now I don't often know whether I am protected or not. Also this morning the security vault had an update link but when I tried to download it said could only be done if the original was un installed. Does this affect the password and also what is now in the vault?

Help greatly appreciated.

Re: Not fully protected Message

To BalaSGS

My two previous Posts are a direct reply in answer to requests from DINESH 1-12-09    07-59. I have not received his comments.

Being a newish user of communities I feel I am getting out of step with my problem. Are you replying on behalf of Dinesh and does your

reply take into account my 2 previous Posts?

Answers to your questions:-

1. Changes----Installed PC tools Registry Mechanic 27-11-09. It is likely that my problems started then.

2. Issues----no issues with downloading and installing S/W.

thank you

To BalaSGS

For some reason my reply is in Recent Content 3-12-09   09-20.

I look forward to your comments.

PS       Why did my reply go to Recent Content and when does it go with the other Postings?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Not fully protected Message

Following on from my previous posts I have now re-installed counless times but the result is always the same. Frequent "you are not protected" messages and also if you click on configure, elements are unchecked even after the are supposed to be fixed. Please can someone from McAfee explain what is happening. I have used McAfee products for years without this kind of problems. When I bought the new package a few months ago that also worked very well until a couple of weeks ago, so something must be causing all of this.

PS Anyone else looked at configure and found bits not ticked as running when security centre says they are?
