Newly installed total protection not working

Hi,

I just now installed McAfee Total Protection on my home laptop. Installation is successful however when I am manually starting the full scan it is giving the message "an error has occurred" with details as " An unexpected problem occurred during your scan. Please click OK to go back to the Home page, and then try running your scan again"

My laptop had a "kaspersky antivirus" which got expired and then I uninstalled the kaspersky antivirus and installed McAfee Total Protection. My laptop has Windows Vista.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Newly installed total protection not working

Moved from SaaS Total Protection Service to SecurityCenter (home products) as I think that's what you sre using, correct me if I'm wrong.

When uninstalling Kaspersky did you run their removal tool?

http://support.kaspersky.com/common/service.aspx?el=1464

Run that then:

Uninstall McAfee via Control Panel > Programs

Then run the MCPR cleanup tool and reboot.

Reinstall McAfee from your online account.

Also ensure that your Vista is totally up to date, i.e. Vista SP2 (anything less please post that information as I may be able to help) and you should also have, even if you don't use it, IE9 installed.
