Once I have something to report, I will give a status here. I'll have to give it a little time to observe the behavior and see if the beta actually does mitigate the issue.
Thanks Dave, that's very much appreciated!
Thanks Creator. Good information. I appreciate your assistance. Off to the beta site.
Somer,
Here is my latest. Being on the beta, I have had periods of time that were very good with no interference to browsing ( IE 8.0 ), emailing or creating word or excel docs. I have had other times like, for example, 30 minutes ago: CPU stuck at 100%, system bound up, page file at around 850 meg. I shut down IE and everything went normal. Right now, after bringing IE up again, CPU utilization is bouncing around from 10 to 80 to 50%, page file usage is at 751 meg, fan is quiet, no hang.
More to come.
Dave
Mine on beta scanning 33% max CPU usage and 70000K memory max usage. This on win 7 64bit. Drops to 0% and 7000K memory when scan finished.
Tony,
A question as to the frequency of updates under the beta: How often do you receive an update? I have had four in the last three days. Is this normal for the beta?

Hi Dave,
It depends on what parts are being used with Beta. VirusScan is a given. Are you using Anti-Spam? It is usually one Update per day.
Dave,
Which process are you seeing all this CPU in now? Still in mcshield? Or in iexplore?
Somer,
Right before leaving this morning, mcshield was about 80,000K and iexplore was at around 130,000K. The IE memory use is not outrageous, but the mcshield seems to be a bit higher than I am used to seeing, which is usually at around 15 or 20,000K.
Dave
Mine (mcshield) sits at 77000K at this moment . I did a quick scan and after that back to 9700K
