McAfee has removed PowerDVD.exe

this morning McAfee removed PowerDVD.exe, here are the details:

Detection name: W32/IRCbot.gen.z (Virus), W32/IRCbot.gen.z (Virus)

File: [path......] \PowerDVD.exe

Process: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE

Process description: Windows Explorer

anyone else had this issue? My powerdvd installation is genuine (off of a disc I got when I purchased a blue ray optical drive for my pc), I would go through the process of reinstallating it but I get the feeling McAfee will just do it again, thought I would ask here for help first so any help would be much appreciated.

best regards

RE: McAfee has removed PowerDVD.exe

I have a similar problem with the same 'virus' and McAfee has killed Spotify!!

If you google this virus you will see that McAfee has dropped a big one!

RE: McAfee has removed PowerDVD.exe

This can happen with any anti-virus. Procedures for false detections here: http://community.mcafee.com/showthread.php?t=228162

False Positive - t2p_live_v12.exe

Hi,

We are a organization in the UK supporting aver 2000 schools, we have a couple of schools using McAfee as their anti virus software complaining of our file being recognised as a trojan horse. I have uploaded the file on webimmune and had no response also sent in an email about 3 days back no response and this is getting frustrating now as we have schools waiting.

the file t2p_v12_live.exe is being detected as trojan, this is a wrong detection.

Can someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This should be resolved in today's early DAT release at about 10:30am CST.

Assuming you meant the PowerDVD.exe problem I'm afraid it hasn't been resolved, at least for me. After doing an update the virus reported changed from W32/IRCbot.gen.z to Artemis!324CEC27B448

Could you open the McAfee Security centre and click on about button and let me know the DAT number on the screen.
