McAfee Total Protection 2011- Not responding.

Jump to solution

I just renewed my subscription because it was set to expire in two days. As I went to download the new version, the mcafee installer it keeps coming up blank and saying its "not responding".  And by blank, I mean a grey box. What gives?

Do I have to uninstall my previous version of mcafee in order for this new version to be able to download or is there a bigger problem?

1 Sometimes takes a while for purchase to get noted.

Also you must be signed into your computer as an Administrator level account to download and install this software

2. Check your account and see what it says re expiry and version available. If ok you can run the removal tool

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100507

reboot and run

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/Mcpreinstall.exe

Should work fine now.

If it was downloading a new version remove old version best way to go. If it was the same version or previous the change over should have been seamless.

Run the removal tool should be fine then

Thank you Peacekeeper. I guess I was over anxious in wanting it installed. Everything ended up installing perfectly.

Thank you for the answer.
