Das routinemäßigePrüfen, Herunterladen und Installieren von Aktualisierungen – manuell oderautomatisch – scheint auf dem XP PC, trotz weniger GHz, ewig zu dauern. Im normalBetrieb ist der XP PC fast genau so leistungsfähig wie der Vista PC, nur mitMcAfee tut er sich irgendwie schwer. Hat jemand eine Ahnung wieso?

I'm only guessing but as the XP machine is about 30% lower processor speed that would have a big impact, also a lot would depend on how much memory (RAM) is installed plus other software running in the background.

The actual processor could also be a factor especially if it does not employ hyperthreading - for instance  I found the software much slower on my netbook which has 1.6ghz but is using an Atom processor and I found that made a huge difference.  Also 1.6ghz is almost on the lowest limit of the system requirements.
